My Morning Routine

If you know me, you know I LOVE my mornings. Getting ready for the day puts me in the right mindset to get work done. With school and work being online, I try my best to limit my screen time. To me, the morning is the perfect time to disconnect and focus on yourself. Plus, an article in The New York Times mentioned that a morning routine is great for your mental health.

I’m a breakfast kind of girl. When my alarm goes off, I give myself some time to wake up. Around 7:00 am, I make two eggs, toast, avocado, and coffee! I eat breakfast even when I’m not too hungry: it keeps me full and focused until the afternoon. If I don’t eat – I’m antsy all day. I catch myself not concentrating on whatever it is that I’m working on.
After breakfast, I shower! Mind you: I wash my hair three times a week. At the beginning of the week, I wash my hair at night. On the following morning, I tie my hair up and style it after my shower. I do this to shorten the time it takes to fix my hair for classes.
I must add that I use a reparative shampoo and conditioner the majority of my wash days. My all-time favorite is the Beachwaver’s Stay Strong reparative set. Since I lighten my hair: Once a week, I use a purple shampoo and conditioner. Particularly, Kevin Murphy’s Blonde Angel set.
As for skincare, my go-to soap is Dove’s gentle exfoliating bar soap and body wash. Call me crazy, but I use the bar soap with a washcloth first. Then, the body wash with a loofa. It makes my skin SO soft. For face wash, I use Aveeno’s Clear Complexion foam wash. After my shower, I lather on Bath and Body Works Stress Relief Body Cream with eucalyptus and spearmint. My face is a little on the dryer side, so I use Thayer’s Facial Toner and Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost. I finish off by putting some Vaseline on my lips.
Here’s the best part: styling my hair. Like I said before, I tie my hair up for my shower. Afterward, I brush it out and spruce it up with Beachwaver’s Second Chance Dry Shampoo. I’m guilty of using heat on my hair when I don’t necessarily have to. But I love having beach waved hair. So, I make sure to use heat protectant. Preferably Beachwaver’s Great Barrier Heat Protectant Spray. To get beachy hair, I use my 1.25-inch Beachwaver Pro Rotating Curling Iron for giant loose waves. Since the iron rotates, it makes curling my hair fast and easy. In the end, it takes me less than 10 minutes to curl my whole head.
Around 8:30 am, I’m completely ready. I have time to review my planner and log on to my email to get organized for the day. In a prior blog post, I mentioned that I treat my school day like a 9:00 am to 5:00 pm job. It’s SO nice having that time to myself before being on my computer all day!
